"Let's Dance" es el decimoquinto álbum de estudio de David Bowie, el primero desde el anterior trabajo, "Scary Monsters", de 1980. "Let's Dance" fue lanzado el 14 de abril de 1983 por el sello EMI y vino tras unos años de intensas colaboraciones de Bowie con otros artistas, incluidas varias apariciones cinematográficas.
Tras abandonar el sello RCA Records debido a sus divergencias, Bowie fichó por EMI, siendo este su primer trabajo para la nueva discográfica. Para la producción contó con la colaboración de Nile Rodgers, de la banda de rock Chic.
EL álbum se grabó en diciembre de 1982 en la Power Station de la ciudad de Nueva York. Las sesiones contaron con colaboradores completamente nuevos, como una intención de Bowie de reseter con respecto a anteriores trabajos y comenzar de nuevo desde cero. Fue el primer disco en el que Bowie no interpretaba ningún instrumento, basando su participación únicamente en la voz.
El álbum contiene tres versiones de otros artistas, como son "China Girl" de Iggy Pop, "Criminal World" de Metro y una revisión del tema "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)", grabado originalmente por Bowie junto al músico italiano Giorgio Moroder en 1982, para la película del mismo título.
"Let's Dance" tuvo una gran acogida comercial, logrando auparse al primer puesto en las listas de numerosos países, siendo reconocido como el álbum más vendido de Bowie. Los cuatro sencillos del álbum también lograron buenas posiciones gracias a sus ventas. En cambio, las críticas no fueron unánimes.
Tanto el tema principal como "China Girl" contaron con sendos videoclips que tuvieron gran acogida y fueron reproducidos continuamente en el canal MTV.
"Let's Dance" inicia una fase de descenso creativo de Bowie, con álbumes posteriores de escasa calidad, tal y como reconoció el propio artista. Fue su último trabajo con Tony Visconti, con quien no volvería a colaborar hasta 2002.
