"... And Justice for All" es el cuarto álbum de estudio en la discografía de Metallica, la banda estadounidense de heavy metal. Lanzado el 7 de septiembre de 1988 por Elektra Records es también el primer álbum tras la muerte del bajista Cliff Burton en 1986 y el primero en contar con Jason Newsted como sustituto en la nueva formación.

El álbum se grabó junto a su productor de los anteriores trabajos, el danés Flemming Rasmussen. Las sesiones, realizadas en los One on One Recording Studios de Los Ángeles, duraron cuatro meses y se plasmaron en unas construcciones líricas un tanto agresivas, con temas que hablan de injusticias políticas y legales, como la corrupción del poder, la censura, la guerra o el riesgo nuclear.

La portada del álbum presenta a la Estatua de la Libertad atada con cuerdas, en un diseño ideado por el guitarrista de Metallica James Hetfield y el baterista Lars Ulrich

"... And Justice for All" fue aclamado por la crítica por su profundidad y complejidad, aunque se criticó su mezcla seca y su bajo casi inaudible. El álbum se incluyó en la lista de los mejores del año por los críticos y fue nominado para un premio Grammy, aunque finalmente no consiguió doblegar a Jethro Tull, quien finalmente se impuso en la candidatura a la Mejor Interpretación de Metal.

Tres sencillos ayudaron al álbum a vender más de ocho millones de copias en Estados Unidos y alcanzar el sexto puesto en las listas estadounidenses de ventas: "Harvester of Sorrow" (lanzado el 28 de agosto de 1988), "Eye of the Beholder" (30 de octubre de 1988) y "One" (10 de enero de 1989), una canción contra la guerra que retrata a un soldado de la Primera Guerra Mundial que está gravemente herido y cuya única esperanza es idear una forma de comunicarse con el personal del hospital.

gabrielg365: Les recomiendo el disco que grabó Metallica junto con la Orquesta Sinfónica de San Francisco en 1999,sin dudas el mejor,a mi criterio, reune los mejores temas y dos inéditos en ese entonces: Human y No Leaf Clover, totalmente en vivo y con una calidad impresionante.
