"Mind Games" (Juegos Mentales) está considerado como el cuarto álbum de estudio en la discografía de John Lennon. Grabado en los estudios Record Plant de Nueva York en 1973, fue producido por el propio Lennon para el sello Apple Records.
Tras abandonar un tanto su activismo político y en una época delicada en su relación con Yoko Ono, comenzó a preparar un disco alejando de la crítica política y social de su anterior trabajo, "Sometime In New York City". En medio de sus declaraciones ante la corte que estudiaba su deportación, Lennon comenzó a componer los nuevos temas que compondrían su nuevo álbum.
La presión que el FBI ejercía en su vida, con seguimientos y escuchas telefónicas, estaban desquiciando al músico y eso dejó su impronta en las canciones. Además, justo antes de comenzar las grabaciones Yoko Ono y John Lennon se separaron. Lennon comenzó una nueva relación sentimental con su asistente personal y coordinadora de producción, May Pang, una relación que se mantendría durante 18 meses y que, cuando finalizó, el músico definió como "un fin de semana perdido".
Finalmente, "Mind Games" se comenzó a grabar en julio de 1973, una grabación que se llevaría a cabo en tan solo dos semanas. En las canciones, Lennon continúa mostrando sus sentimientos a través de temas melancólicos cuyo destino eran los oídos de Yoko Ono. Uno de dichos temas, "Aisumasen (I'm Sorry)" se tituló originalmente como "Call My Name" y era una clara invitación a Yoko para retomar su relación.
Otros temas mostraban más alegría en sus composiciones, como en "Intuition" y "Only People". Por otra parte, Lennon no renuncia al rock como medio de expresión, con temas como " Tight A $" o "Meat City".
