"Iron Maiden" es el álbum con el que se inicia la discografía de Iron Maiden, la banda británica de heavy metal liderada por Steve Harris. Fue lanzado al mercado el 14 de abril de 1980 en Reino Unido por el sello EMI Records y por Harvest and Capitol Records en Estados Unidos.
El productor del álbum debut de Iron Maiden fue el británico Wil Malone, que fue muy criticado por el grupo por su aparente falta de interés que derivó en que esta fuera la única colaboración con la banda.
Las grabaciones se realizaron en los londinenses Kingsway Studios, en enero de 1980, y las mezclas finales se realizaron en Morgan Studios, al mes siguiente. Todo ello en un tiempo récord para tener el álbum a punto para su lanzamiento.
Este fue el único álbum de estudio en el que contaron con el guitarrista Dennis Stratton, que fue despedido por diferencias artísticas.
La banda inició una gira para promocionar este álbum, ofreciendo sus primeros conciertos en el continente europeo, donde pudieron comprobar la expectación que habían comenzado a generar fuera de su país.
La versión estadounidense del álbum difiere un poco de la original, ya que incluye el tema "Sanctuary", que Iron Maiden había lanzado en Reino Unido como sencillo, pero que no entró en la versión británica del álbum.
La versión remasterizada de 1998 ya incluye "Sanctuary" en su lista de canciones.
